Romeos Gluten Free Bakery, Islington
Romeos Gluten Free Bakery on Upper Street, Islington, has been the talk of town since opening in March. Whether you’re looking to pick up a loaf of bread or cake, or drop in for breakfast, lunch or dinner, Romeos offerings – which are all produced on premises – will cater to your gluten-free needs.
It’s not difficult to establish why Romeos has already made such a name for itself, largely through word of mouth. The range of cakes and bread in the window entice you in from the street and the spacious inside has a rustic feel to it. We had a vegetable lasagne and beef & horseradish sandwich and you literally would not have known that they were gluten free. The servings were enormous (both came with a huge lentil, pumpkin and chickpea salad) and with drinks our bill came to under £20.
Romeos have developed their recipes using a range of ingredients over time to ensure that the quality is there and it’s nice to visit somewhere that has such a range of gluten-free dishes without breaking the bank.
Romeos is based near Angel tube station and Highbury & Islington overground.

Romeos is open daily from 7am to 7pm and later on certain evenings
